Laboratory History

HPC Foods Laboratory key milestones.

From a small in-house testing operation to Hawaii’s first ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited food microbiology laboratory opens for public.

2010

HPC Foods Testing Laboratory was established.

2012

Introduced PCR-based molecular detection for pathogen testing in foods and sprout irrigation water.

2019

Expanded the laboratory to include a dedicated PCR testing area with proper zone separation and enhanced biosafety measures.

2025

Achieved ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation through ANAB.

2026

Expanded the scope of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation by adding more testing options for foods and environmental samples.
